Birdwatching

The grounds of Crystal Creek Caravan Park itself are a haven for birdwatchers. We have over 5 hec-tares of natural tropical surroundings where birdos have sighted 105 different species of birds! You can see this list, and add to it, here.

All of the bird images on our website were taken within the grounds of Crystal Creek Caravan Park, by one of our amazing guests, Belinda Rafton.

Mount Spec & Paluma Range National Park

Paluma Range National Park, the southern gateway for the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area. Mount Spec straddles the summit and escarpment of the Paluma Range, rising 1000 metres above the Big Crystal Creek floodplain.

A maze of streams and cascades criss-crosses the upland rainforests. Open eucalypt forests dominate the lower slopes and casuarinas fringe the clear creeks.

Park at Big Crystal Creek and explore the surrounding tracks and waterways. There are walking tracks, hiking trails, and mountain biking tracks littered across the mountains. Take in the views from McClel-lands lookout and admire the 1930s stone bridge over Little Crystal Creek. Escape the summer heat by picnicking near the creek before slipping into one of the many cool waterholes… and don’t miss the natural waterslides!
